ABOUT THIS COURSE
A launching pad for developing real skill with IFS
Learn the building blocks of IFS from the ground up — alongside other therapists and coaches who want to understand the model better.
IFS Basics One is the first in a three-part series. It's designed, not as a clinical training, but as an experiential deep-dive into your own internal system. You can't bring the model to clients until it feels natural to you. This course builds confidence working with your own parts, a feel for the cadence of the model, and a solid foundation in working with protectors.
THIS IS FOR YOU
You're in the right place if...
✓ You're a therapist, coach, or healing arts professional ready to go deeper with IFS.
✓ You feel drawn to IFS – you sense its power and want to understand it better
✓You want a teacher who knows her stuff and creates smart, safe environments where you can go deep
✓You learn best in small, safe groups with others who are curious, a little nervous, and all-in.
NOT QUITE A FIT
Look elsewhere if...
x You're already trained by The IFS Institute, use the model confidently with clients, and need clinical supervision.
x You want IFSI clinical training. This course offers 12 CEUs for licensed therapists, but does not replace IFS Institute's Level 1, 2, or 3.
x You prefer learning solo and at your own pace — this is a live, participatory group experience.
Exiles and Healing — the second course in the series — requires this course as a prerequisite. This isn't a bureaucratic rule. Protectors exist specifically to keep exile material contained until there's enough safety and skill to approach it. Trying to do exile work without that foundation isn't just harder — it can be destabilizing. The sequence is the pedagogy.

Assessment, integration, and a nod toward Basics Two — where the deeper Exile work begins.
MY APPROACH
What to expect in each meeting
I teach collaboratively. I listen to what students need and stay responsive throughout the course. My goal is to weave conceptual learning with in-the-moment practice — how do these ideas land with you? What parts of you show up in response to what just happened in class?
I'll sometimes demonstrate parts work in real time with individual students as their parts show up and want attention. You don't have to volunteer for that. But some people do — and it's often when everything clicks.
"Working with Rennie is amazing! Her style is REAL and she truly welcomes all the parts. It's so refreshing and soul-nurturing/nourishing to be in a class with her. Do yourself a favor and sign up right now!"
