Three Approaches to Self in IFS
Explore and clarify what Self actually means in IFS — here's a visual diagram to consider.
Finding "Self" in a Hurry
There are plenty of times in daily life where you need Self energy right at a given moment, and there’s no room to “turn gently with compassion” toward anything! Here's a way to calm your troubled system quickly. Take a look at four examples I offer in the download and use the accompanying exercise to to create your own practice. Develop a way to find Self Energy on demand.
One Way to "Map" Your Own Parts
Here's an exercise to help you understand a troubling recent event or a situation that continues to nag you. This isn't a way to catalog all of your parts; it's designed to help you understand a small cluster that's involved in something specific that wants your attention. When you see parts in 2D on a page in front of you, it's surprisingly easy to unblend from them. New clarity appears. The situation makes sense, your reaction makes sense, and you now have identifiable protective parts to work with. You'll likely identify trail heads toward more hidden wounded parts who want your help.
Support for Mapping with Clients
Here's a way to help your client unpack a story in session. This exercise invites you to witness the client's story-telling part, and attend to the many (often loud) parts weighing in about the story - at the same time. More can get done in one session than you think.
